Who are they?
Gordon Kerr, Manager; Sandra Davidson, Officer and Joan McDermott, Assistant.
What do they do?
They ensure the smooth running of our ‘back office’ functions – preparing and monitoring budgets and long-term forecasts, financial reporting, statutory and regulatory returns, working with our auditors and banks, paying and issuing invoices, posting rents and factoring income and so on. In addition, this team deals with data protection, HR & Payroll administration, managing office contracts, IT administration and website maintenance and other activities associated with the smooth running of the organisation. They ensure that the highest standards of professional and ethical management of finance and business functions are upheld at all times.
How are they managed?
The team report through our Audit and Risk Committee, which in turn reports to the full management committee. They follow a range of guidelines and regulation and must meet with regulatory frameworks required by the Scottish Housing Regulator and the Financial Conduct Authority amongst others. The Finance & Corporate Services Manager is a member of the management team and works with the Director to ensure that we operate in the best interests of Wellhouse community.
- Gordon Kerr - joined Wellhouse on 1 May 2017 as Finance & Corporate Services Manager. Gordon is an affiliate member of CIPFA, and is a highly motivated and experienced accountant. Having worked in the RSL sector for over 20 years, Gordon has worked for several Associations, some with Care subsidiaries. He has substantial experience of Group Structure accounting and is familiar with preparing sets of Charity Accounts as well as Housing Association Accounts. Gordon firmly believes in Wellhouse’s core values and is confident that these will lead to Wellhouse being The Place To Be.”
- Sandra Davidson - is a CIMA finalist who has worked within Finance for over 24 years in a variety of roles and sectors including Local Government, NHS, Further Education, Industry and Audit. Sandra was appointed as Finance Officer on 18th September 2017 and is continuing to assist Wellhouse achieve their objectives.
- Joan McDermott - having spent a number of years working as a legal Secretary in both Glasgow and London, a local school opened its doors to Adult Returners. Joan gained additional qualifications to obtain a place at college where she was successful in gaining a Higher National Diploma in Accounting. She has spent over 25 years working in various Housing Associations across Glasgow.
